Jim Burgess serves as the Program Manager for the Physical Science UARCs.  In this role, Jim works with the ISN Technology Transfer Officer to coordinate and executes the ISN portfolio in support the Army Science Core Competencies.

Jim has been awarded the Army Civilian Service Commendation Medal and he served as Chair of the Organic and Biological Electrochemistry Division of the Electrochemical Society.

Prior to joining the Army Research Office, Jim was Professor and Chair of the Medical Laboratory, Imaging, and Radiologic Sciences Department at Augusta University after serving as Assistant Professor and then Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University where he led a federally funded graduate research program.

Jim graduated from Longwood College with a BA degree Chemistry and from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry.  Jim worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the DOE Ames Laboratory at Iowa State University.
